Nashville’s Bonnie Whitmore took to our live review of her 11th Street Bar performance that was featured in the November issue of Caught in the Carousel.
Major thanks to Bonnie for the support!
Check her out with the Pretty Pennies (which includes her equally amazing sister, Eleanor Whitmore and NYC’s Leslie Mendelson) WEDNESDAY night @ 11th Street Bar.
Kanye West and Spike Jonze make a short film

It had to be taken down, so this isn’t the best quality, but it’s worth a watch.

Sorry, I know a lot of people hate on Kanye; however, you need to respect a person for being so honest about their seemingly self-destructive ways. People don’t bare enough soul these days, so I personally think this is refreshing.

Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Mr. Hudson
Thursday, September 10th, 2009
I’m a sucker for really sick-tastic creative collaborations. And yes, I’m into the hype that is Jay-Z’s newest release, and Kanye’s last release, for that matter. And now, I’m looking forward to Mr. Hudson’s upcoming release, Straight No Chaser. Not sure when it’s released in the US, but looks like it’s pegged for an October 19th release in the UK.
I’ve re-discovered Mr. Hudson on Jay-Z’s new track “Young Forever” on The Blueprint 3. (Mr. Hudson was featured on “Paranoid” on Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak, which I also became intensely dedicated to.)
There’s something about successful, cross-genre collaborations that catches and keeps my attention. I could get used to this.

Micachu & The Shapes

Bjork just premiered this England-based artist’s video, “Turn Me Well,” on her site. Well now, doesn’t it help to have friends in high places…?!
All joking aside, though, Mica Levi deserves the promotion. She invented her own instrument for goodness’ sake!
Neutral Milk Hotel – “Two-Headed Boy”

The audio on this live video is not bad. This is one of my more favorite videos to watch because you know it’s something that may be done again, but only in variation. Check, check, check it.
It’s long, but worth it.
“Rocket man” — My Morning Jacket (Cover)…
Sunday, September 6th, 2009
Now this is some solid synching right here.
The only thing good about having to go beach-less this Labor Day weekend is finally taking the time to discover Californication.
Shown through the dedication of series creator Tom Kapinos and music supervisors Budd Carr and Nora Felder, the cast and staff have certainly created a “musical arc” for the show for which I can’t thank them enough.
Finally, I can justify having that perfect fantasy soundtrack that I pretend follows me daily.
(My Morning Jacket cover of Elton John’s “Rocket Man” – features on the Pilot Episode of Californication)
Here’s some info on the series “track pack” and “evolving soundtrack.” While I’m definitely digging the soundtrack Temptation: Music From the Showtime Series Californication, there’s nothing like seeing it paired to Duchovny’s strangely familiar struggle through the daily life of someone whose work represents his life and whose life represents his work.
