Soldier of the Week

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Hello again –

Remember when Wayne and Garth created the Babe List in Wayne’s World?

Well, after leaving you with those up-lifting words of wisdom last night, the Music Soldiers suddenly realized something – it’s time to start our “Top Soldiers” of the past and present list.

I know it’s questionable talking about Wayne and Garth’s Babe List in the same post as Aristotle, but we’re going to do it anyway.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Encouraging words from this week…

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Hey all –

With the economy as it is, and a general sense of blindness when it comes to what the future may hold, the Music Soldiers thought they’d share some of our favorite thoughts from this week. In sharing these, we hope to help all those in our community reflect on recognizing personal strengths and will-power as they continue on in life and career.

From a Music Soldier father:

“While we all wait for the big lightening bolt to strike, in actuality experience tells us that it is the little things that we do each and every day that, over time and in a cumulative way, best position us for long-term success.”

Bob Lefsetz:

“I love my country. And I know you do too. We criticize it because we want it to be better. And now, we’re willing to sacrifice in order for all to progress, not only ourselves, but the unknown masses that make up society. We’ve got work to do. But we will only do it if we have hope, that by standing together and working hard things will get better. Without hope, we’ve got malaise. We’ve got suicide. We’ve got heartbreak.”

Enjoy –

Update: Why the Music Soldiers have been MIA.

Hey all –

Sorry, there’s really no excuse for our absence. Well, nevermind, there really is…

Along with being out producing concerts (NYU’s Triumphs and Trials concert), checking out new music like Alaska in Winter (who our good friend Stefanie Lamm manages stateside), we’ve been out working on these:
